I and a few others kept pointing this out, there will be no investigation because Russia is on the United Nations Security Council. This is very similar to the Yugoslavian civil war when Russia was protecting the Serbs with diplomatic cover. This is worse though because Russia is working with Assad militarily.

Russia isn't interested in allowing this because at the best it knows Assad carried it out and at the worst it was involved. Putin routinely tests the boundaries of Europe/NATO/USA ... This was an example of that.

Russia vetoed because the UN would pin the attack on a Syrian/Russian collaboration despite not being involved

Don't be so naïve

If Trump was truly disgusted he would have launched strikes against significant Syrian targets, not an empty airfield. The attack was a face saver, and Syria was likely complicit alongside Russia.
