    Angry I don't buy this calves being "all genetix" bullshit

    When I used to do a lot of athletic stuff my calves were ridiculously big and would stand out looking deformed and shit.
    I stopped doing sports, running and only really do hamstring focused leg exercises now and they have shrunk into a pathetic size of a normal person.
    This shows that clearly some environmental factors used to make them big but now that those factors are gone they are average at best.

    its just a cope excuse from ppl who are too lazy to train them

    and i dont even know why people are too lazy to train them u could literally just blast them after ur squats or some shit for 5 mins ... whats so hard about that?

    I think big calves are pretty sick looking tbh

    mine got a lot bigger from doin manual labor for 10 years

    also i find that when i do atg high bar squats it seems to hit my calves anyways.

    maybe im doing them wrong lol

    I dont think its cope as some of the worlds best bodybuilders have no calves What so ever while doing extreme amounts of drugs along with perfect diet & train them hard

    Everything is genetics you retard but its true that people just dont work them as much as they should if ever, I dont see many people doing them, I also dont see many people with nice legs. The people with nice legs either work them or have good genetics. I know people with great arm genetics and overall just hold a lot of muscle even without working out.

    I do them as my last exercise on leg day, 3-4 sets to failure, and I have nice calves.

    also trained them 3 days a week for years and they would not grow

    I even played hockey my entire life would train 5x a week and have 3 games a week and still suck

    Yeah you are definitely doing them wrong. You're likely leaning too much of your weight towards the front of the foot, while it should be centered more towards the center/heel.

    They are 18inch technically not small but the rest of my body makes them look like toothpicks, I have insanely high insertions so 3/4 my leg is bone

    They require constant tension that's why, getting them stronger in the gym doesn't do much tbh.
    That's why fat guys have huge calves, constant tension.
    Mine grew from boxing/mma bc jump rope everyday, always in your toes in combat sports training never flat footed, that constant tension works best. I'd say try jumping rope for cardio and see what happeni
    Or explosive standing jump raises, idk what to call it. Heavy weighted leg driven calf raises (high intensity)

    Yeah I agree, that’s why I said mine were big when I did athletic activities like some of the things you mentioned. I think most of the genetixz people underestimate how much they can add to their calves.

    my calves just don't respond, the're only like 15 inches untrained. might get like an extra .5 inch if I pound them and get to like a 5 plate calf raise

    Read what JamesLi said. Getting stronger may not be the best method for adding size to calves. I think something like the stair machine or jump rope is a better alternative.

    Good point about constant tension; I remember when I was pretty fat at 230 they were a decent body part. As I progressively lost weight, they atrophied (not just due to getting leaner but muscle loss)
