is this a good alternative to conventional face pulls?

basically i wanna do face pulls at home. been doing band face pulls like this as shown in this video since i have nowhere else to anchor it to but the angle doesn't seem ideal and it gives me too much of a burn in my upper traps which i dont need (trying to posture maxx)

so i've been trying some dumbbel face pulls like this instead but off the edge of a bed as opposed to standing

are either of these actual good alternatives to a regular face pull? the latter doesnt seem to work my upper traps as much but im not sure if the gravity induced weight puts more strain on the side delts/arms as a whole rather than the back. any opinions?

any ideas as to why the first burns the upper traps particularly? is this normal for regular face pulls or is it angle related?

are you shrugging your shoulders up when you do the first movement?

Angle related. In that first movement, the resistance is in front of you but also close to the floor, you're pulling UP, as well as back. This makes it like a hybrid between a traditional facepull, (cable set around face height), and an upright row - which has a shitload of trap activation.

thanks. thats what i figured. do you think the latter is a good movement though? i only have access to 2kg dumbbels btw, seems somewhat insufficient

It looks just as good as a cable facepull to me. If you insist on doing them at home, buy adjustable dumbbells though. You won't do much with 2kg dumbbells

Why don't you just do the band pulls sitting on the ground?

turns out i had already had one of those door anchor thingies laying around from my TRX. i placed it on the door at more or less forehead level or above and it still burns my upper traps. any ideas why this is still the case? with the dumbbell version i literally dont feel it though idk how much of that is due to the resistance being light. guess im sticking with it for now but idk if it stilll lacks the external rotation component
