    Is there a formula for calculating the time required to freeze a given water temperature?

    I know this depends on:

    the volume of the liquid,
    the temperature surrounding the liquid,
    the surface area of the liquid?s container
    The conductivity of the container.

    I guess you could apply Newtons law of cooling of water were it able to assume a given optimum shape and remain there with out a container. But alas water can?t and different container materials have different transference rates. I don?t see a way to solve this ?.!

    Newtons law of cooling will prob work good enough. Just look up the thermal conductivity of whatever the container is made of. There's tables online for the k-value of diff material types @ diff temperatures. Then you just need ambient temp of the freezer and the initial temp of your water and should be gtg.

    Same thing

    Depending on the shape of your container use cartesian or cylindrical coordinates to solve this in 2D looking from above, multiply by the height, then add the heat flow part from the top and bottom which is cartesian

    You can even use finite differences in excel (each excel cell is one cell) to model an irregular container if you want to step it up in an epic way

    If you're a straight savage use an heat flow simulation software
