This one American guy was babbling to me how oppressive China is and how it must suck to live here. I pointed out to him that basically everything China does we deem “oppressive” our government does the same thing to us but paints China as some boogeyman. agreed. as someone who has spent a lot of time in china (both shanghai and also the other places) and has a chinese fiance, as well as can speak chinese i can say this.... im very pro taiwan and like taiwan, but that said china during my time there as well as what i have experienced and my fiance says, china offers far more freedom than a big tech ruled west or commie west offers.

in china we can do basically anything we want, just dont criticize the CCP. where as in a big tech/commie west there will be restrictions on what you can actually DO..... oh and they promote purple haired fatties, where as chinese girls have standards and good values

china is simple, work hard make money, have a hot gf/fiance, do basically any cool fun stuff, be totally free..... just dont post stupid shit on wechat about the government.

where as china has a collective way of thinking "wo men shi zhong guo ren" (WE are chinese) and are unified. you can be on the bus and openly say "wo hen bu xi huan hei ren" (i really hate black people) and everyone will just think "yeah me too lol" or wont care.
