I'm guessing cause the poorer (and inferiorly viewed at the time) ethnic groups such as the Irish, Italians, and Mexicans are predominantly Catholic. Just an educated guess on my part, could be wrong.

obviously I don't know the answer but that sounds like a good guess. I wonder which countries the KKK liked. if any? Or maybe that's an autistic question. For example I wonder what the KKK thought of Frenchmen. Maybe they don't like any countries at all? I'm not sure
